After a couple of bummer (but then ended up OK), personal real estate transactions, my husband asked me if I had ever thought about a real estate career. Let's just say he didn't realize that I did most of the work on our last purchase, without a license, and without getting paid for it!
On a personal note, my husband and I live at our lake house in Shell Knob, MO. Our youngest, Emily, will be attending Oklahoma State this fall as a grad student. Our oldest, Megan, lives and works in NYC! And then we have our two fur-kids, Bobbi and Marley who were both adopted from Great Plains SPCA. They definitely keep us entertained!

I’m married with 3 adult kids. We’ve lived in Overland Park, KS for 28 years and prior to that in Shawnee, KS for 7 years. I’ve served as a Chief Financial Officer for small local companies for over 20 years. I became a real estate investor in 2003. My experience as a real estate investor has equipped me with critical knowledge of home construction. I use that experience to assist buyers with your search criteria and previewing strategies during the search process. I use that experience also with sellers to consult with you about getting your home ready for showings.
Many people ask the question: “Should I rent or buy a home?” As an accountant, I can explain the advantages of owning as a long term financial strategy. I can explain the importance of developing a favorable credit rating. I can explain the need to save for a down payment. When you purchase a home, each mortgage payment contributes to equity. Over time, the value of your investment grows with each payment. Over time, your investment also grows due to appreciation. Meanwhile, additional advantages of choosing to “buy” include tax deductions, pride of ownership and freedom to customize the home to your liking. I believe everyone should aim for home ownership and only use renting as an interim step to get there.
I use my experience as a landlord to help investors develop a business plan. I can share my positive experience with you and help you get started. Right now is a great time to purchase rental property. A properly selected and managed rental property will provide a steady stream of income in the form of rental payments. This cash flow should be sufficient to cover the costs of operating your rental business: principal, interest, taxes, insurance, maintenance costs and administrative costs. Over time, inflation will drive rental rates higher while the long term mortgage payments remain the same. The result is profit.

I'm originally from Roseville California a suburb of Sacramento, I relocated to Missouri on December 23, 2003. I had always been interested in becoming real estate agent, so I jumped in and have been doing business in Kansas City area since September of 2004.
Having moved 6 times in my adult life--across town and across the country. I understand how tough it is to "pick up and move." I know what my clients deal with when they decide to buy or sell a home! I try to "think" a step ahead of them to make the process as easy and fun as possible!
Traveling in and out of the country is also high on the bucket list; Italy, Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, South Dakota to see Crazy Horse and many other states are just a few places I have crossed off.

And I've been around in this industry for awhile! I was a teacher and coach for eight years prior to becoming licensed in real estate in 2002. I've sold homes professionally and personally in Des Moines IA, Cincinnati OH, and now Kansas City KS/MO since 2009. I am also a mentor to many brand new agents in my brokerage. I love using my teaching/coaching background to help both my buyers/sellers and my new agent friends set and reach goals.
